IFY EZEOBELE, MSHEd, MSN, RN, CNS
CREDENTIALS:
Ms.
Ify E. Ezeobele’s education includes a Master’s of Science
degree in Nursing from UTMB Galveston; Master of Science degree
in Health Education from Texas Southern University, Houston; Bachelor
of Science degree in Nursing from UT-Health Science Center, Houston.
She is a Registered Nurse, an Advanced Practice Nurse and a Board
Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric/Mental Health
since 1995; also, a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist from the
Center of Anger Resolution Inc, Houston. She is currently at Texas
Woman’s University College of Nursing Houston pursuing a PhD
in Nursing.
CURRENT
ROLE:
She
is a Senior Nurse Manager for three general adult units with 71
beds at UT-HCPC and has worked for UT-HCPC for over 16 years.
Her experience in psychiatry includes six years of Child/Adolescent,
2 years Geriatric Nursing and eight years in general Adult, all
at UT-HCPC.
EMPLOYMENT
HISTORY :
Ms.
Ezeobele, has 29 years of nursing experience. Her career started
in Nigeria where she worked at the General Hospital, Aba, as a Registered
Nurse and a Midwife. It was then that she found nursing to be fulfilling
and felt the need to expand her role. She moved to the United States
in late 1979 and began to expand her nursing experience in Houston.
She worked as a staff nurse at Raleigh Hills General Hospital in
1981. She continued to expand her nursing role at the Texas Institute
for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR), Houston, at Houston International
Hospital (HIH) and a supervisor at Chatter Hospital Sugarland. She
became a part-time Nursing Instructor with the Houston Community
College Associate Degree in Nursing, Associate Degree Nursing Evening Program from 1992 to present.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Her
scholarly accomplishments were the publications of her Qualitative
Research article in the Geriatric Nursing Journal, October 2002,
Volume 23, Number 5, titled, “Health and Meaning: A Perspective
of Geriatric Hispanic Women”; and also her published article
on the AMN HealthCare on-line Journal, October 2003, titled “Mentoring
of Graduate Nurses in Psychiatric Mental Health Setting”.
