ADULT | OUTPATIENT | CHILD/ADOLESCENT | SUB-ACUTE

The environment is an open concept setting designed to meet the needs of 25 patients. UTHCPC psychiatric nurses intervene on a 1:1 basis with their assigned patients. Registered nurses provide group education, medication counseling, patient education and discharge planning. They are active participants in patient staffings. Registered Nurses interact with students from all disciplines daily and they mentor and precept nursing students.

UTHCPC nurses treat adult patients, 17 years and over who are diagnosed with affective disorders/schizophrenia and personality disorders who are referred by MHMRA and private referral sources.

The adult units are 23-25 bed units. There are a variety of treatment modalities utilized. The average length of stay is 7 to 10 days. Treatment is provided in a team oriented environment.
