The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of The University of Texas Medical School at Houston was established in 1971. The residency program began in 1974 and currently has 28 general psychiatry residents. Our faculty of more than 60 psychiatrists, psychologists and research faculty provide an environment where a resident can acquire a wide range of experiences. Residents are encouraged to pursue their own interests and skills with the goal of developing a successful mental health care career that is enjoyable and fulfilling.

It is our hope that you will consider our institution to guide your professional development.
