Regulations for Gaining Entrance

UTHCPC screens all employees at the front entrance in the interest of safety by checking for their ID badges.

Visitors Policy

UTHCPC encourages visitation for patients choosing to receive guests. UCHCPC may restrict visitor access to certain areas to ensure safe, effective, patient care.
Patients must consent to have visitors.

Patient and Visitor Entrance Screening
The UT Police Department monitors all patients, visitors, and staff entering the UTHCPC facility.

Disruptive Visitors
UTHCPC removes disruptive visitors whose behavior interferes with the safe and proper functioning of the facility.


FIRE SAFETY

RACE
(7223) is the number to call to report a fire, Do NOT call "0"

JCAHO may ask you what is our fire plan.
It is RACE

RESCUE - Move any patients/staff in immediate danger to a safe area.

ACTIVATE - Trigger the alarm at the manual fire alarm pull station.

CONTAIN - Close all doors. If possible, extinguish the fire.

EVACUATE - Evacuate the department in the following conditions:
* Patients/Staff are unable to extinguish the fire
* Patients/Staff receive orders to evacuate

As part of the Safety Management Program, departments have plans for evacuation to protect patients and staff in case of a fire emergency at UTHCPC.

Department/Unit Plan
Each department, unit, and satellite facility submits a department/unit fire plan tailored to their individual requirements to the Safety Officer for review.

Fire Alert Code
An internal fire alert shall be termed as CODE RED.

Fire Drill
As part of the Safety Management Program, fire drills are required to prepare staff to handle a fire emergency.

The drills are designed to test staff knowledge on the following:
*Use and function of the fire alarm systems.
*Transfer to areas of refuge.
*Fire extinguisher.
*Assignments of specific duties and preparation for building evacuation.

Emergency Preparedness Program
UTHCPC has developed the Emergency Preparedness Program to aid its staff to successfully respond to various emergency situations. The purpose of the plan is to establish procedures regarding hospital activities during times of emergency. The Emergency Preparedness Program covers:

* Food and Nutrition Emergency Preparedness
